We spent 35 days in Peru and spent a total of $2,815. That means that we spent on average about $80 per day.
Our largest expense was transportation ($1,462 – about 51% of the total budget), followed by food and drink ($832 – about 30% of the total budget). We hardly spent any money on camping as we free camped through much of Peru.
The most expensive part of Peru for us was Lima (we loved the food and couldn’t stop eating) and Machu Pichu (expensive train tickets, expensive entry, etc.)
