Honduras: Camp Site List

Texaco Copan

Date Visited: 04/27/2014

Location: 14.83915, -89.14773 (Altitude: 1972 feet)

A texaco station with a parking area out back that they let you camp in. Very close to Copan. They have restrooms, non potable water, and even purified water (5 gallon jugs) for only 20L. We heard from friends you can even plugin here for some electricity (check near the coke machines). For a gas station, its really nice! Charged us 100L for a night.

Luna Jaguar Hot Springs

Date Visited: 04/28/2014

Location: 14.99179, -89.13360 (Altitude: 1726 feet)

Hot springs and camping in the parking lot. You have to pay though. Total for camping and entrance to the springs was 800L (400L per person). They have little areas to BBQ and there is a big grassy area where I am sure you could pitch a tent. It looks like there are a couple wifi networks in the area but we didn’t ask for a password.

A small camping area at the end of a football pitch. This is right across from Copan. There are a couple guest houses nearby with showers that we were able to use, and bathrooms as well. Price was 100L.

Finca Paradise

Date Visited: 04/30/2014

Location: 14.94780, -88.04508 (Altitude: 2201 feet)

A finca near D&D brewery with a lot more room for camping. 100L per person per night. Pool, showers, a beautiful garden and more. Places for tent campers on the grass. Big rigs might fit in here but it would be a tight squeeze. No wifi while we were here but supposedly it’s being repaired. Electricity outlets available at the base of the light poles. Bring an extension cord.

Pulhapanzak Waterfalls

Date Visited: 05/02/2014

Location: 15.02535, -88.00171 (Altitude: 981 feet)

Amazing waterfall and pools. Great way to cool off on a hot day. Camping is allowed in the parking for truck campers but if you have a tent there is a special area with views of the falls! Price was 280 per night for 2 people, which included entrance to the park. Highly recommend the hike behind the waterfall. It is amazeballs!

Location: 14.22808, -87.34929 (Altitude: 3196 feet)

A swimming pool, play ground, football pitch, camping area and more. Nice place to break up the drive from the coast or the lake to the Nicaragua border. Paid 150L per person which included entrance to the swimming pools. I would try to pirate camp here. Tons of space and felt very safe, no people or traffic.
