Budget: Guatemala


We spent 19 days in Guatemala and spent a total of $1,450.  That means that we spent on average about $76 per day. There are several reasons this daily average is higher than our previous budgets. First off, we spent $150 for spanish lessons. Second, while taking spanish lessons, we ate out almost every meal. Finally, the travel costs from Belize (we didn’t fill up there) were absorbed by Guatemala where we had to fill up our truck twice as we traversed the country.

Our largest expense was food ($510), followed by transportation ($495), and then miscellaneous expenses ($261 – $150 for language school and the rest was spent on souvenirs, border fees, a new lens cap for my camera, and some other small items). We only spent $122 on camping for the entire period.
